The “St. Nicholas” church at Dolna Kremena

The church is situated in the center of the village and is an unique architectural complex. In the course of the 17th century an extension was added to the original building, the foundations of which were laid down in the 14th century. Above the main entrance the so-called “the Constructive Stone” could be seen, on which the year 1872 is to be read. The church was repaired in that year. The two adjoining churches are indicative of a sought for continuity and of an esteem of the past. Two of the oldest and most interesting from an iconographic point of view icons in the area come from this church - “St. Nicholas” from the end of the 17th century and “The Holy Virgin” from the end of the 18th century.
